What you will do

The cuttlefish challenge combines remembering with planning. Recall which prey returns after a stated virtual interval, compare live prey hidden among decoys and predict two future food locations from a repeating night sequence.

In the location game, crabs return after one virtual hour and preferred shrimp after three. In the prey task, solid moving dots count while hollow decoys do not. The schedule task keeps its current history visible: the challenge is to extend the rhythm, rather than memorise a hidden list.

How the animal challenge works

Three tests with five rounds each. You have one life: every round must be correct. Tests become harder automatically, from Light through Medium to Demanding. Before each test, take your time with the rules and example. Choose relaxed or sport tempo; the clock starts when you start the task.

What to watch for

Before you play

Where should I start?

Open one task and read its goal and example before starting. Training lets you choose the task profile and tempo.

How many rounds are there?

Each task has five rounds. Training allows one wrong round; one-life challenges require all five to be correct.

The idea behind the games

These are original game tasks, partly inspired by animal cognition research. The research notes link to the original papers and explain how our game ideas relate to them. Read the research notes.
